Buyout

We will most likely seek to agree to a buyout where you purchase the right to make unlimited use of the music and we reserve the right to make the work available in our catalogue for others to licence.

If your budget does not run to a buyout, you will pay for our time in creating the music, then licence it from us in the same way you would if you opted to licence any of the off-the-peg items from our library.

Exclusivity

You might like to opt for exclusive use of the music we create for you. This means that you will own the recordings we produce for you (but not the copyright in the compositions). Exclusivity gives you the sole right to exploit the recording indefinitely for profit with no royalties owing to us, and we cannot licence the recording to anyone else. The deal we make will be binding until the end of the copyright term in the recording (70 years). You should expect an exclusive deal to be relatively expensive, and most suitable for large scale productions.

Shared ownership

Shared ownership comes into play, if instead of exclusivity, you offer us a slice of the revenue from your project. Let’s say you are a singer looking to release an album, and you work with us to create unique arrangements of an out of copyright composition as your accompaniment. Instead of exclusivity or licence credits, you might wish to seek a shared ownership deal with us where we share not just the risk, but also the profits from the project. We would still expect to receive payment for our time in making the track with you, but we would use the PRS system to receive acknowledgements and royalties on the tracks which feature our work.
